“Public Opinion Sought on Proposed Developments in Wedge Area by BLM”

June 12, 2025by Ranger Tom0
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is seeking public input on proposed developments in the Wedge Area. The BLM, which manages over 245 million acres of public land primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska, is responsible for sustaining the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands. This is to ensure that these lands can be used and enjoyed by both the current and future generations.

In addition to the surface land, the BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. This includes managing resources such as oil, gas, coal, and other minerals. The agency’s role involves balancing the need for resource extraction with the need to protect natural, cultural, and recreational resources.

The call for public input is a part of BLM’s commitment to involving the community in its decision-making process. The feedback received will help guide the proposed developments in the Wedge Area, ensuring that they align with the interests of the public and the agency’s mission to sustain the health, diversity, and productivity of the land.
