Lahontan Reservoir, situated in the Lahontan State Recreation Area, has been put on a Harmful Algal Bloom (HAB) Watch Advisory due to the presence of an active harmful algae bloom. Visual and satellite imagery assessments have pointed to a potential bloom, prompting the advisory.

The Nevada Division of Environmental Protection (NDEP) is currently conducting water tests to further investigate the situation. The presence of toxic algae in the water is a significant concern, as it can pose a threat to local wildlife and potentially to human health.

The HAB Watch Advisory serves as a cautionary measure to inform residents and visitors of the potential risks. Further updates will be provided as the NDEP continues its investigation into the harmful algal bloom at Lahontan Reservoir.
