“Southeastern Arizona Enforces Stage 2 Fire Restrictions Amid Rising Fire Activity and Dry Conditions”

May 13, 2025by Ranger Tom0
Due to heightened fire activity and persistently dry conditions, Stage 2 fire restrictions have been implemented in Southeastern Arizona. This decision was made by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), which oversees more than 245 million acres of public land primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska. The BLM’s mission is to maintain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the enjoyment of present and future generations.

The BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate throughout the nation. The agency’s role is to ensure the sustainable use of these resources while preventing and managing environmental hazards such as wildfires. The recent fire restrictions in Southeastern Arizona are part of this mandate.

The Stage 2 fire restrictions come in response to a combination of dry conditions and active fires in the area. This move is aimed at preventing new fire outbreaks and controlling the spread of existing ones. The restrictions will remain in place until conditions improve. The BLM has not specified a timeline for when this might occur.
