During his tour of the airport facilities, Ambassador Moctezuma and local authorities discussed the potential for future routes between Mexico and New Mexico. They also talked about joint efforts in economic development, tourism, and binational mobility. The Ambassador has been a strong ally to New Mexico, and his visit is seen as an affirmation of the lasting bond between Mexico and New Mexico. He also expressed support for the new direct route to Washington and the ongoing conversations to establish a direct route with Mexico.

Ambassador Moctezuma’s visit included meetings with the Albuquerque Hispano Chamber of Commerce, the National Hispanic Cultural Center, members of the New Mexico Legislature and Executive Branch, Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, and organizations dedicated to defending the rights of the migrant community in the state. He was also the keynote speaker at the Summit of the World Affairs Councils, hosted by Global Santa Fe.
