The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is responsible for the upkeep of over 245 million acres of public land, mainly situated in 12 western states, including Alaska. The lands are maintained on behalf of the American public. In addition, the BLM also oversees 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate across the nation.

The primary mission of the BLM is to ensure the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands. This is done to ensure that both current and future generations can use and enjoy these lands.

In line with this mission, the BLM has announced a National Public Lands Day Clean-Up. More details about this event can be found on the official BLM website.
