From Sunday, June 29 through Monday, July 7, the airport expects to serve approximately 160,000 travelers, with the busiest day projected to be Thursday, July 3. On that day alone, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) anticipates around 20,000 passengers will pass through the airport.

Aviation Director Richard McCurley advises passengers to plan ahead and arrive early for a smooth travel experience. The airport recommends arriving at least two hours before departure time to account for increased security procedures and possible congestion. Travelers are also encouraged to utilize expedited check-in and security programs, such as TSA PreCheck, and to monitor their flight status through their airline’s app or flight tracking apps.

Additional tips include planning extra time to find parking, with information on fees and parking lots available on the ABQ Sunport website. Children under 12 can accompany a TSA PreCheck-enrolled parent or guardian without restriction. Passengers with disabilities or medical conditions requiring additional assistance can contact TSA Cares at least 72 hours before their flight. Lastly, passengers are reminded to bring their REAL IDs or other acceptable forms of identification to the checkpoint. As of May 7, nearly 94% of passengers are presenting a REAL ID or another acceptable form of ID, according to the TSA.
