“Albuquerque Sunport Unveils Food Hall Featuring Authentic Native Cuisine and Local Favorites”
The Albuquerque International Sunport has completed its new food hall as part of its Dream of Flight terminal renovation. The food hall features seven new restaurants including Indian Pueblo Kitchen (IPK), the first Native-cuisine restaurant in a US airport, and New Mexico Piñon Coffee. The opening of these eateries marks a significant milestone for the city, celebrating its rich cultural and culinary heritage.
Owned and operated by New Mexico’s 19 Pueblo tribes, IPK offers an authentic Indigenous dining experience with a menu featuring traditional dishes such as red and green chile stews, blue corn breads, and Kool-Aid fried pickle chips, all inspired by Pueblo traditions and locally sourced ingredients. IPK President and CEO Monique Fragua expressed her excitement about sharing the spirit of Pueblo hospitality with guests.
New Mexico Piñon Coffee, a beloved local staple, is the first of several new dining options slated for Concourses A and B. The café will offer travelers a taste of New Mexico from the moment they reach their gate. Matthew Bregar, President of New Mexico Piñon Coffee, highlighted the opportunity to share a taste of New Mexico with a wider audience through their presence at the Sunport.
In addition to the new food options, Yucca Outpost, a retail store offering a curated selection of artisan gifts, Native American jewelry, local snacks, and Southwestern goods, has also opened in the T-Connector. The store is the latest venture from the family behind one of New Mexico’s most successful family-run retail operations, now led by Nicholas Cook. The store aims to spotlight local artisans and authentic New Mexican craftsmanship.
The completion of the food hall is seen as a significant achievement for the Sunport, offering travelers an authentic taste of Pueblo cuisine and a vibrant, welcoming experience that celebrates the community. Other dining options in the food hall include Cheese & Coffee, Dunkin’, Flavor of New Mexico, Panda Express, Rush of Prana, and Teller Bar.
