“Bureau of Land Management to Host Major Timber Sale in Cañon City, Aiming to Boost Jobs and Reduce Wildfire Risk”
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has announced a sealed bid timber sale in Cañon City, Colorado, starting on September 18, 2025. The sale, known as the Zion Timber Sale, involves the disposal of 880,000 board feet of timber, specifically targeting the salvage of lodgepole pine across 125 acres of forest lands.
Chris Zeigler, the Rocky Mountain District Manager, has highlighted the benefits of such forest management initiatives. He stated that the Zion Timber sale is not only aimed at creating jobs but also at reducing wildfire risk and making timber available for communities.
All sealed bids for the timber sale must be received by the Field Office Manager at the Bureau of Land Management, located at 3028 East Main, Cañon City, Colorado, before 10 a.m. Mountain Daylight Time on September 25, 2025. The bureau has clarified that any bid received after 10 a.m. on October 14, 2025, whether by mail or in person, will be rejected.
