“California Condors Take Flight: Public Invited to Witness Majestic Birds’ Debut in the Wild”

Five California Condors were released into the wild during the 29th annual public condor release, an event that was both in-person and live-streamed for viewers. This event marked the first flight of these condors in their natural habitat. The release was managed by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), an agency that oversees approximately 245 million acres of public land primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska.

The BLM’s mission is to maintain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the use and enjoyment of present and future generations. In addition to managing surface land, the BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate across the country.

The annual release of the California Condors, a critically endangered species, is part of the BLM’s efforts to conserve and protect America’s wildlife. The event took place at the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument and was accessible for public viewing via live stream.
