“Controlled Burn Set for Hualapai Mountains: BLM’s Strategy for Land Health and Sustainability”
The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has announced a planned prescribed burning in the Hualapai Mountains, located southeast of Kingman. This move is part of the BLM’s mission to maintain the health, diversity, and productivity of America’s public lands for the enjoyment of current and future generations.
The BLM is responsible for managing approximately 245 million acres of public land, primarily located in 12 western states, including Alaska. These lands are managed on behalf of the American people, with the BLM’s activities aimed at ensuring their sustainable use and preservation.
In addition to the surface land, the BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate across the nation. The prescribed burning in the Hualapai Mountains is part of the BLM’s broader land and resource management efforts.
