“Secure Your Firewood Permits Now for Las Cienegas Conservation Area”

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has announced the availability of firewood permits for the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area. The BLM manages approximately 245 million acres of public land, primarily in 12 western states, including Alaska. These lands are managed on behalf of the American public, with the mission to sustain their health, diversity, and productivity for present and future generations.

In addition to the surface lands, the BLM also administers 700 million acres of sub-surface mineral estate across the nation. This vast amount of land under the BLM’s management includes a variety of resources, one of which is firewood. The permits being issued will allow individuals to legally gather firewood from designated areas within the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area.

This announcement is part of the BLM’s ongoing commitment to providing resources and opportunities for the American public to enjoy and benefit from public lands. The issuance of firewood permits not only provides a valuable resource for individuals and families, but also helps in managing the health and sustainability of these lands by controlling the amount of deadwood, which can contribute to forest fires if left unchecked.
