“Sunport Unveils Three New Stores, Amplifying Local Charm and Traveler Convenience”
The Albuquerque International Sunport has welcomed three new stores, Globo Mercado, Nob Hill Necessities, and Roadrunner Express, as part of the airport’s “Dream of Flight” terminal transformation. The new stores, which were opened with a festive ribbon-cutting ceremony, reflect the unique neighborhoods and landmarks of Albuquerque and offer a modern, traveler-friendly experience. All the stores feature locally made products and popular New Mexico brands.
Globo Mercado is a travel convenience store inspired by the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, offering essentials and local treats. Nob Hill Necessities is a kiosk designed to embody the charm of Albuquerque’s Nob Hill neighborhood. Roadrunner Express is a modern convenience hub providing snacks, beverages, and travel essentials with staffed service from 4:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
The new retail concepts were introduced by WHSmith North America, which includes local vendors such as Mata G vegetarian kitchen and New Mexico Ferments Kombucha. The introduction of these shops highlights Sunport’s focus on innovation, local partnerships, and improving the passenger journey. Roderick McOwan, Chief Development Officer of WHSmith North America, expressed pride in the unique retail experience each shop offers and mentioned plans for further enhancements to the retail program in partnership with local businesses.
The new additions are part of Sunport’s “Dream of Flight” vision, which aims to blend local authenticity with innovative design to make the airport a more enjoyable gateway to the city. The Albuquerque International Sunport is New Mexico’s largest commercial airport, serving over 5.5 million passengers annually and offering nonstop service between Albuquerque and 32 destinations. WHSmith North America operates more than 360 travel convenience and specialty retail stores in airports and resorts across North America.
